In NJ, the party in power of respective elected positions considers that office to be their property. When an elected official is not seeking reelection or moving on to another position, the party chooses a replacement. The replacement then gains the power of incumbency with a huge advantage to then becoming elected at the next cycle. We believe that this is wrong. No elected office should be filled other than by vote of the citizens, even if this requires that the office remain vacant until a vote can be taken. - See detail and provide your thoughts.
