The total price tag for this work is $21,495,000. The good news is that for the first time Westfield will be considered for state aid to support eligible projects. Even better news is that all of the projects that were part of the bond in 1998 are also eligible for state aid. We now have a window of opportunity to make significant improvements in our facilities without placing the full burden of the expense on Westfield taxpayers.

On December 12 from 29 p. m., Westfield residents will have the opportunity to cast their votes in the bond referendum election.

In the coming weeks there will be much more information about the proposed projects. A listing of the projects as well as the CAC report are available on the http:// westfieldnj. com Web site. Highlight “school bond information” and refer to the menu to select items of interest. You can take a virtual tour of the high school by clicking the “online tour” option on the menu.

Finally, live tours of Westfield High School will be conducted on Saturday morning, November 18, at 9 a. m. and Wednesday evening, November 29, at 7: 30 p. m.

For further information, please contact the Office of School/ Community Relations at (908) 7894463 or visit our Web site. You can email me at wfoley@ westfieldnj. com or post a message for everyone to see under the “Postings” menu of the school bond site at http:// westfieldnj. com.

I welcome the community’s input as we move forward in adapting our 50yearold high school to provide opportunities for our students in the 21st century.
