batting average. But Corbett was also a superb center fielder, finishing with a .927 fielding percentage. On many occasions, she made magnificent runsaving catches and, with her rifle arm, gunned down runners attempting to steal either home or third.

Senior Kristen Leonardis was smooth both offensively and defensively. At the plate, she had deceptive power, clubbing a home run and leading the team in triples with four. Batting an even .300, she had 24 hits and 12 RBI and led the team with 29 runs scored and 13 basesonballs. The crafty second baseman, with her quick reactions, led the team in assists with 47.

Leading in doubles with five, senior Katy Brunetto also cracked two home runs and a triple while totaling 20 hits. She scored 18 runs, knocked in 11 and had three sacrifices.

Third baseman/ pitcher junior Lindsay Guierriero was second in assists with 45 and had a fine .316 batting average. She also had nine RBI, nine walks, 13 runs scored and one triple. As a pitcher, she recorded a 1.53 ERA.

First baseman Alex Lee improved dramatically defensively and turned in a .982 fielding percentage. She was effective offensively with a .286 batting average, 15 RBI, one home run, two doubles and 13 runs scored, and had a knack of getting hitbyapitch with three bruises.

Sophomore pitcher Caitlin MacDonald assumed number one status as the season progressed and recorded a 1.90 ERA. With the metal stick, she batted .317 and had 19 hits with 20 runs scored, 13 RBI, two triples, four stolen bases and four sacrifices.

Pitching in several games, Peggy Doerr had a 43 record with a 3.00 ERA and, with the bat, she scored four runs, drilled a double and batted .278.

Seeing some action, Rachel Wagner had 11 runs scored, seven RBI, one home run and two triples. Tara Dowling scored nine runs and A great contact hitter, in her 76 at

bats, Miller fanned only four times but drew nine walks. Successful on the base pads, she stole 10 bases and scored 21 runs. Also, she tied for second on the team with 21 RBI.

Junior Katie Church was quite a threat at the plate and finished with a .371 batting average while bashing four triples and five doubles and driving in 15 runs. Opposing pitchers were very cautious when they faced her. As a result, Church walked a teamleading 17 times and led in scoring with 29 runs. Once on the bases, Church continued to terrorize and stole a teamleading 16 bases.

Sophomore Kellie LaForge provided some lightning with her metal

The Pats pounced big in the first inning. Dave Hawke hacked two doubles, Lee DiDonato hit a triple and had three RBI. Tony Barattucci bashed two doubles and had three RBI. Rick Wustefeld and Al Weber each had two hits and two RBI. For St. Jude, David Rothenberg and Manager Tony Perfilio had two hits each, as did Dennis Hercel whom also had one RBI.

St. Louis 15, St. Thomas 3

St. Louis scored all of their runs in the first three innings. Norm Hansen led St. Louis with three hits and three RBI. Marty Marks mashed a homer, a single and led the team with four RBI. Steve Magnotta had two hits and two RBI and Tom Litterio had two RBI. For St. Thomas, Mike Rivera led with two hits and Michael Brennan and Karl Mende each had one RBI.

St. Patrick 14, St. James 9

St. Patrick held off late efforts of the James Gang. Frank Samuelian led St. Pat’s with three hits, two RBI, a homer and a triple. David Hagan had two hits and one RBI and Ron Del Prete poked two hits. Lee DiDonato and Rick Wustefeld each had two RBI. For St. James, Jimmy Hoelzel went 3for3, Ben Lobrace had three RBI, Wayne Morse had two hits and Howard Bialos had two RBI. Don Rowbotham rapped two doubles.

Howard Jones pitched one of the best games of the week and went 3for3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Bobby Pielhau had three hits and two RBI. Marc Reisberg had a double and a single with two RBI. James Sacca slapped two hits. For St. Paul, Tommy Ulichny went 3for3 and Tom Engleman, Floyd Roberts, Joe Romash, Bill Zechman and Bruce Logan all had two hits.

Tony Perconte (4 RBI) and Tom Straniero (3 RBI, Hr.) each went 4for4. Peter DeCristofaro and James Cassidy (4 RBI) each had three hits. Emmett O’Hara had four RBI. Dave Rothenberg launched two over the fence as he went 3for3 with a weekhigh seven RBI. Tommy Swales and Stan Grausso also went 3for3. Dan Perrine, Frank Chupko, who pitched a great game, and Dom Valenzano all had two hits and two RBI. Almost everyone else on the team also had two hits. A shining star already who may glow with even more magnitude in the future is freshman Lindsey Pennella, who seemed to have the knack of getting clutch hits and scoring key runs. Pennella batted a startling .462 (18for39) with one home run and two doubles but, on a few crucial occasions, she rapped a key seventhinning single, stole second and third then scored the winning run. She also had 10 stolen bases, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored.

Senior Lauren Regenthal batted .382 (13for34), belted a home run, thumped a triple and cracked four doubles. She also scored 14 runs, knocked in seven and stole five bases.

Junior shortstop Katie Blom had a .302 batting average (16for53) with three doubles, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. Senior center fielder Jen VanDeroef also had a .302 batting average (16for53) and scored 16 runs, had 16 RBI, drew 11 walks, stole 10 bases and drilled three doubles.

In her 27 at bats, freshman Caitlin McNelis had 11 hits, including a triple and a double, had six RBI and scored five times while having a .407 batting average. Freshman Megan Reddington had 10 hits, including a triple and a double, knocked in four runs and scored seven but drew 10 walks and was quite a thief, stealing 15 bases. Senior Jillian Saridakie batted .290 (9for31), had nine RBI and scored 10 runs.

Experiencing some playing time was junior Amy Ondeyka who batted .583 (7for12), scored seven runs, stole three bases and drove in two runs. Juniors Michele Bover and Rachael DeVico both went 1for1 while DeVico scored three runs and knocked in one.

The future does look bright for the Raiders who return the bulk of their big hitters and will still reap the benefits of a superb pitcher.
