Janet Lee SnyderCarlbon, 62, of Raubsville,Pa. diedonMonday,June 12, at home.

Born in East Orange, she had lived in Mountainside, Scotch Plains and Clinton before moving to Raubsville 15 years ago.

Mrs. SnyderCarlbon had owned Stewarts DriveIn in Clinton Town ship for 15 years before retiring.

She served on the ParentTeacher Association executive boards in Clinton, Mountainside and Scotch Plains.

She was also a member of the Planning Board, the Board of Educa tion and the Board of Health, all in Clinton.

Mrs.SnyderCarlbonhadalsobeen an editor of the Town of Clinton Newsletter, a President of the Re publican Club and a Republican County Committeewoman.

Surviving are two daughters, Laureen Schellinkhout and Cindy Miller; a son, Garry L. Carlbon; her mother, Margaret Snyder, and five grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a. m. today, Thursday, June 15, in the Clinton United Methodist Church, 15 Halstead Street in Clinton.

Joan M. Pinnell, 69, of Fanwood died on Saturday, June 10, in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.

Born in River Vale, she had lived in Waldwick before moving to Fanwood in 1968.

Mrs. Pinnell had been a supervisor with Liberty Mutual Insurance Com pany in Parsippany before retiring in 1992.

She was active with the Girl Scouts of America, having served as a troop leader, community Chairperson and memberof theWashingtonRockCoun cil Board of Directors.

Mrs. Pinnell served in the United StatesNaval Reservesduringthe1950s.

Surviving are her husband, Rich ard S. Pinnell; two sons, Wayne Pinnell and Steven Pinnell; two daughters, Linda Morris and berly Styles; a sister, Olive Haer; a

brother, Joseph Canzoneri, and four grandchildren.

Services were held on Tuesday, June 13, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood. Inter ment followed at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

Jimmy Fountoulakis, 73, Was Marine; Research Microbiologist at Merck Ashton Cuckler, 90, Research Scientist;

Developed Various Drugs at Merck

Ashton C. Cuckler, 90, died on Thursday, May 25, at University Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.

Born in Wilsonville, Neb., he maintained dual residences in Sum mit and in Birmingham since 1998. He had previously lived in Westfield.

Mr. Cuckler had been a research scientist with Merck and Company in Rahway for 28 years before retir ing in 1975.

A specialist in parasitology, he was responsible for the development of numerous drugs used worldwide in the treatment of both animal and

human diseases. He was a member of theAmerican Society of Parasitologists.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Cuckler; a son, John Cuckler; a daughter, Anne Dunning, and seven grandchildren.

A private memorial service is planned.

Maria Roth died onThursday, May 11, at her residence in Montreal, Canada.

Born in Hungary, she had lived in Montreal for the past 50 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Su sanBartok ofWestfieldandKatherine HalpernofDurham,N. C.;fourgrand children and nine greatgrandchil dren.

Services were held on Monday, May 15, at the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union. Interment took place at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Fairview.

M. Fountoulakis, 73, of Scotch Plains died on Tuesday, June 6, in Overlook Hospital in Summit.

Born in Belzoni, Miss., he had lived in Elkton, Va. before moving to Scotch Plains many years ago.

Fountoulakis had been a re search microbiologist with Merck &

in Rahway for more than 34 years before retiring last August. He had previously worked for Merck &Companyin Elktonforeightyears.

He attended Texarkana College in Texas and earned both his bachelor’s

and a master’s degree in psy chology and microbiology from the University of Texas.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Fountoulakis was a member of Texas ExStudents’ Association. He was predeceased by his par ents, Michael J. and Mary Fountoulakis.

Surviving are his wife, Catalina Lopez Fountoulakis; three sons, Michael Fountoulakis, George Fountoulakis and Steven

Fountoulakis, and two brothers, John M. Fountoulakis of Texarkana and George Fountoulakis of Skopolos, Greece.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 12, at the Dooley Co lonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Suzanne SteffensBrotz

Suzanne SteffensBrotz of Semi nole, Fla. died on Tuesday, June 6, at home.

Born in Niagara Falls, she had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Seminole.

SteffensBrotz was a bank loan officer.

She was a member of the Seminole Women’s Club and the Korean War Veterans Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, John Brotz; two daughters, Sonja Cohen and Sheila Amberg; two sons, Harry Steffensand NoelSteffens;threestep sons, Stephen Brotz, Christopher Brotz and Ken Brotz; two brothers, Edward Shrubsall and Peter Shrubsall, and five grandchildren.

Services were held on Friday, June 9, in St. Justin Martyr Church in Largo, Fla.

Arrangements were under the di rection of the Lewis W. Mohn Fu neral Home in Seminole.

Frances Brody, 83, Founded and Helped Facilities for Children and the Elderly

KimFrancesBrody, 83,ofScotchPlains

died on Tuesday, June 13, in the MorrisTownship home of her daugh ter, Patti Lehrhoff.

Born and raised in Newark, the daughter of Russian immigrant par ents, she had been a successful Real tor.

At age 17, she held a job running the daytoday operations of a foundry. As a teenager, she also was a member and officer of Junior Hadassah and was active in fund raising and other activities for the women’s Zionist organization.

She and her late husband, Herbert Brody, were members of Temple EmanuEl in Westfield, where the Frances and Herb Brody Chapel was named in their honor.

She received the Judaic Heritage Award from the temple’s Men’s Club and established a scholarship fund there for student aid to Israel.

Mrs. Brody was a founding mem ber of Westfield Hadassah, which honored her as its Woman of the Year.

She was also a member of the Board of Governors of Hebrew Uni versity in Israel and was Honorary Chairman of the NewYork Region of the university.

Mrs. Brody established research scholarships at the university and was the first woman to receive the university’s “Torch of Learning” award.

The Brody family established the and Herb Brody Center for Food Sciences in Rehovot, Israel, where a street, Frances Brody BouleJimmy vard, is named in her honor.

Mrs. Brody served on the Board of Governors of Hadassah Hospital in Israel and was a founding member of its children’s hospital, as well as being on the board of Alyn Hospital for handicapped children in Jerusa lem.

She also was a member of the Board of Israel Bonds, the Prime Minister’s Club and the President’s Club. Mrs. Brody was the recipient of both the Eleanor Roosevelt Hudegree award and the Woman of Valor award from Israel Bonds Women’s Division of Metro West.

She served on the Board of the Eye Institute of New Jersey and was a PastVicePresident ofFightforSight. She was also a founding member of the United States Holocaust Memothe rial Museum in Washington, D. C. and was a life member of many other organizations, among them the Brandeis University Women’s Divi sion.

Mrs. Brody donated the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery at Newark Beth Israel Hospital and established the Frances and Herb Brody Early Childhood Centers at the MetroWest Jewish Community Center in Whippany and at the Jewish Com munity Center of Central New Jersey in Scotch Plains.

She also worked for many years on behalf of the Guild for Jewish chil dren, where she was active in fundraising and established the first readingand testingroom.Mrs.Brody also served as Vice President of the guild.

She donated the Chapel at the CenBRIGHTtral New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged in Somerset and worked for the Daughters of Israel Home in West Orange, where she sat on the boards for both the home and its Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Brody was a longtime Asso ciate member of the Franklin State Bank; a board member of the Eastern division of Easter Seals and a fundraiser for Boston University.

She received the Realtor of the Year award from the New Jersey RealtorsAssociation for her humaniaccepted tarian efforts, and was also honored by the Deborah Hospital of Browns Mills and AMIT Women.

Mrs. Brody was a member of the Jewish Federation of MetroWest in Essex County and the Jewish FedGallaway eration of Central New Jersey in Union County and was on the board of the United Jewish Appeal.

She was predeceased by her hus band in 1983. Mr. Brody was Presi dent and Chief Executive Officer of Supermarkets General.

Alsosurviving aretwootherdaugh ters, Susanne Brody of Greenwich, Conn. and Wendy Keil of Morristown; a son,Andrew Brody of Harrison, N. Y.; two sisters, Rae Gelber of Hillside and Mae Lippy of West Orange, and 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held yester day, Wednesday, June 14, at Temple EmanuEl. Interment followed in the Beth Israel Memorial Park in Woodbridge.

Shiva will be held at the Keil resi dence, 7 Cobblestone Lane in Morristown, today and tomorrow, June 15 and 16.

Arrangements were under the di rection of the Bernheim Apter Goldsticker Suburban Funeral Chapel in Maplewood.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hebrew University, Brody College of Agriculture.

Evelyn Rohrabaugh, 73

Evelyn K. Rohrabaugh, 73, a life long resident of Westfield, died on Monday, June 12, at home.

Miss Rohrabaugh had worked in the Accounting Department of the Rohrabaugh Insurance Agency in Westfield until joining the office of Frank Perier, a Certified Public AcFrances countant in Westfield, in 1952 as an accounting administrator.

She was a member of the First tist Church of Westfield, where she belonged to the choir and the Handbell Choir and was a church school teacher for many years.

She was a Past Grand Officer for the Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey and was its Grand Representative to Kentucky from 1995 to 1997.

Miss Rohrabaugh served as Secre tary of the Atlas Chapter No. 99 of

for the past 20 years. Surviving are a brother, Kenneth C. Rohrabaugh of Norfolk, Va.

A memorial service will be held tomanities Friday, June 16, at 11 a. m. at BaptistChurch.Intermentwill be private.

Visitation will take place today, Thursday, June 15, at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield, from 7 to 9 p. m.

James Edward Drum, 40, of Scotch Plains died on Tuesday, June 13, at home.

Born in Elizabeth, he moved to Scotch Plains 25 years ago.

Surviving are his parents, Douglas and Nancy Drum; three brothers, ThoWestfield mas Drum, Michael Drum and Daniel Drum, and a sister, Teri Crawford.

Frank Cimato, 91, of Hillsborough died on Sunday, June 4, at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.

Born in Brooklyn, he had lived in Scotch Plains for 30 years before moving to Hillsborough in 1980.

Mr. Cimato had been employed by Bell Labs AT& T of Murray Hill, and previously with Western Electric in New York, for 30 years of combined service before retiring in 1973. BapHe was a member of the Mary,

Mother of God Church in Hillsborough.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ethel Cimato; a son, Robert Cimato of Hillsborough; and three grandMr. sons.

Funeral services were held yesterCompany day, Wednesday, June 14, at the Hillsborough Funeral Home in Belle Mead. Interment was at St. Bernard Mausoleum in Bridgewater.

Born in Elizabeth, she had lived in Westfield before moving to Delray Beach in 1980.

Mrs. Bianco had been a bookkeeper with Arrowhead Conditioning Com pany in Westfield before retiring to Florida.

She was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield and at St. Vincent Ferrer Roman Catholic Church in Delray Beach.

She had also been an active volun teer with the Girl Scouts.

She was predeceased by a son, Raymond Bianco, in 1990.

Surviving are her husband, Anthony V. Bianco; a son, Vincent A. Bianco of Sergeantsville; two daughters, Elsie B. Powell of Scotch Plains and Noreen Lund of Westfield; two sisters, Mary Marhonof MorristownandAnneLesak of Garwood, and eight grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a. m. in St. Helen’s Roman Catho lic Church in Westfield today, Thurs day, June 15.

Angelica E. Stappas, 56, Was Active With Church, Scouting and Hospice

Angelica E. Psilipoulos Stappas, 56, of Neshanic Station died on Fri day, June 9, at home.

Born in Providence, R. I., she had lived in Westfield before moving to Neshanic Station four years ago.

Mrs. Stappas was a former Youth Director, Sunday school teacher, and President of the Ladies Philoptochos Society at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield.

She was also a former President of the Welcome Wagon organization in Westfield and a former volunteer for the Westfield High School system, the Hunterdon County Hospice and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America in Plainfield.

She was predeceased by a brother, Dennis H. Psilipoulos, in 1997.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Paul G. Stappas; a daughter, KristinaMarie Parsons of

Hopkinton, Mass.; two sons, George Stappas of Delray Beach, Fla. and Gregory Stappas of Neshanic Sta tion; a brother, John H. Psilipoulos of Providence, R. I.; two sisters, Bessie Papigiotis of Smithfield, R. I. and Demetra Hoopis of Lake Forest, Ill., and two grandchildren.

A Mass was offered on Tuesday, June 13, in the Annunciation Church in Cranston, R. I. Interment followed at the North Burial Ground Cemshould etery in Providence, R. I.

Arrangements were under the di rection of the Branchburg Funeral Home in Branchburg.

Additional visitation took place at the Nardolillo Funeral Home in Cranston.
