ScheringPlough Corporation has acquired the 1.8millionsquarefoot Summit Research and Office Campus of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. Through a leasing agreement with ScheringPlough, Novartis will continue to occupy the 88acre research and development, laboratory and office complex through March 2003. That is when Novartis anticipates completion of the large expansion of its East Hanover headquarters.

Schering plans to renovate the Summit facility, located at the intersection of Morris Avenue and River Road, and begin construction of a new safety evaluation building.

The property was marketed for sale by Cushman & Wakefield of New Jersey, Inc. of East Brunswick.

* * * * * Vicki Banach of Scotch Plains has been elected President and Gail S. Vernick of Westfield has been elected secretary of the Board of Trustees of Visiting Health Services (VHS) of Union County, Inc., a nonprofit home health care agency.

The new officers assumed their duties at the May 19 Board of Trustees meeting. Also joining the VHS as new trustees are Westfield Police Chief Anthony J. Scutti and Sherry Cronin, also of Westfield.

Richard Parness of Westfield will continue as Treasurer of the board.

Last year VHS provided over 133,000 hours of care to just over 550 clients in Union County.

Mr. Jeremiah, Senior Associate, is primarily responsible for business development of the firm’s resourcing practice. He was previously Director of Golf at The Hartefeld National Golf Club in Avondale in Avondale, Pa. Holding a degree in financial management from Clemson University, he is a Class A PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) Professional.

Nicholas A. Roger and Franklyn J. Sullebarger

have been selected to the Board of Trustees of the Youth and Family Counseling Service in Westfield.

Mr. Roger is a Partner with the Assurance and Advisory Services

with Deloitte & Touche. He relocated to Westfield from Detroit last year and is now working out of the firm’s Parsippany office.

M r. Sulleberger, a 39year Westfield resident, has retired as President of the

E. T. Sullebarger Company, suppliers to the graphic arts and publishing industries. He has been an active member of the Westfield community where he served as President of both the Westfield Adult School and the United Fund of Westfield and was a former councilman.
