WESTFIELD — Aberson Narotzky & White, originally located in New York City before relocating to Westfield in 1992, recently moved to new offices at 649 Central Avenue in Westfield.

“Our new location offers additional space for our employees and much needed parking for our customers, as well as a display room for our many promotional products,” said Hal Narotzky, Chief Executive Officer.

Aberson Narotzky & White was founded in January 1989. The firm specializes in promotional items for major corporations, companies and advertising agencies.

‘We represent hundreds of manufacturers who develop and produce

WILKESBARRE, Pa. — Recently, Wilkes University, located in WilkesBarre, Pa., held the grand opening of an innovative studentrun public relations agency, Zebra Communications.

Westfield resident John Bruett has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the agency. John, who also serves as the agency’s Webmaster, is the son of Ann and Vincent Bruett and is a 1997 graduate of Westfield High School.

John is one of 18 advanced public relations students who work with selected small businesses and nonprofit organizations on public relations, marketing and advertising projects. Twelve clients signed on with Zebra Communications before the agency held its opening.

“We work with organizations and companies that might otherwise not be able to afford public relations and marketing services,” explained Dr. Jane ElmesCrahall, Faculty Director of Zebra Communications.

John, who designed the agency’s Web page, agreed that, “There is a need for our services. Nearly half of our clients are requesting help with web page design or critique.”

With an interest in the Internet, John is finding his work with the agency to be a positive experience.

“To be part of this group from the very beginning has helped build my confidence. I enjoy working with the other students. We all have put our blood, sweat and energy into making the agency as professional as possible. I am anxious to see where it goes from here,” he commented.

In addition to serving on the Board of Directors, John is Account Team Manager for a small business that

provides video streaming on the Internet.

Professor ElmesCrahall feels the students are doing professional quality work in part due to their strong backgrounds, including internships.

“John brings technical skills and the experience he gained while interning last summer with the Webmaster at FAO Schwarz in New York City,” she said.

John is also on the executive staff of the campus radio station, WCLHFM, and does live sports coverage at university games. He will graduate from Wilkes with a degree in communications in May 2001.

Students in Zebra Communications receive academic credit while enrolled in a threecourse public relations sequence at Wilkes. The Zebra Communications Web site that was designed by John can be found at: http:// wilkes. edu/~ zebra.

Scotch Plains Library Seeks ‘AdoptAShelf’ Volunteers

SCOTCH PLAINS — The Scotch Plains Public Library, with assistance from the Friends of the Library, is reorganizing its Volunteer Program in honor of the library’s 200th anniversary year.

Volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of two hours per month to the library’s “AdoptAShelf” program, in which participants survey shelves and rearrange books that are out of order.

Individuals or small groups (such as a family or group of coworkers) may accept responsibility for keeping the materials in order in a particular area on a weekly or biweekly basis. Certain areas get heavier use than others and thus require more attention.

Other volunteer opportunities are also available, either on a regular schedule or on an asneeded basis, such as helping with children’s programs.

An orientation meeting for volun teers will be held on Wednesday, March

1, at 7: 30 p. m. at the library. Further information may also be obtained at the Reference Desk or by calling the library at (908) 3225007.
