bats and base balls. No gloves are used.

Onlookers will find that several of the rules are quite different from modern day rules, such as: a ball caught on one bounce is an out, a ball is in play when it first hits in fair territory even if it rolls foul, and a foul tip can result in an out if it is caught on the first bounce.

There is no charge and viewers are invited to experience these unique and enjoyable events. Home plate will be situated in deep center field of the softball field located behind the flagpole at the eastern end of the park. The batters will be hitting in the direction of the flagpole.

The Town Bank Supports Baseball Team’s Quest

For Westfield’s 1314 YearOld Baseball Team, their “field of dreams” lies not in a local park or schoolyard, but in the desert, across the country. And thanks to supporters like The Town Bank of Westfield, they’re playing on it!

The team recently journeyed to Tuscon, Arizona to compete for the Division 14 Championship in the Police Athletic League (PAL) World Series, a national event. The Town Bank of Westfield’s recent donation will help offset the expenses of attending this series, according to Coach Bill Meyer.

Robert W. Dowens, Sr., The Town Bank of Westfield’s President and CEO and Paul Misiur, Vice President, presented the donation to the team and their coaches Bill Meyer, Joe Wisniewski and Tony Psomas.

“The Town Bank of Westfield is delighted to support the Westfield Baseball League. What a wonderful opportunity for hometown recognition and, more importantly, the young members of this team, to participate in the PAL World Series. Our best wishes for a great series!” Mr. Dowens said during

the presentation. Coach Meyer noted that The Town Bank of Westfield has been a “loyal supporter” of the Westfield Baseball League.

He thanked the Bank for their recent donation, commenting, “I have personally been involved with the PAL World Series on three other occasions and have observed definite benefits for the players, both athletically and socially. We gratefully accept your donation towards helping our team fulfill their dreams and we appreciate your continued support.”
