AND THE LINE GOES ON…Westfielders lined up on Monday to get a chance to register for Westfield Memorial Pool membership. The second phase of the sale of Westfield Memorial Pool memberships for the 2000 summer season ended prematurely Tuesday when all 1,800 available spots were sold. No more pool memberships will be available for sale again until Monday, May 1, when memberships will be open to everyone, including those who live outside of Westfield.

FAMILY TRADITION…Cynthia Swindlehurst is sworn in as the newest Democratic member of the Fanwood Borough Council on March 28 by Mayor Louis C. Jung, left. Ms. Swindlehurst was named to fill the unexpired term of former Councilman William E. Populus, Jr., who retired on March 1. Looking on are her parents, Barbara and John Swindlehurst, both of whom were council members. Mr. Swindlehurst, the first Democrat ever to serve on the council, was elected in 1969 and 1972. Mrs. Swindlehurst served from 1983 to 1986.
